USQ Alumnus Leesa Soulodre was elected to the 2017 Management Committee of Australian Alumni Singapore at its 62nd Annual General Meeting, hosted at the Australian High Commissioners Residence on Tuesday evening. Leesa will steer the Associations digital transformation and governance programs.

Australian Alumni Singapore (AAS) is the national umbrella organisation for Singaporean or Singapore-based graduates of Australian universities. With the Patronage of the Australian High Commission and the President of Singapore, AAS, the Australian Alumni of Singapore, aims to promote friendship and goodwill among the various graduates and members from different Australian tertiary and professional institutions. Since 1955, the AAS has created platforms that forge closer business, social and cultural links between Singapore and Australia - alliances that enhance professional and leadership opportunities for Australian alumni from different Australian tertiary and professional institutions in Singapore.

The Australian Alumni Singapore, through the uniting efforts of it founders and successive office-bearers, and the patronage of the President of Singapore and Australian High Commission to Singapore, has not only forged a close link to promote goodwill and understanding each other’s social, economic and cultural values, but also formed an important part of the fabric of relationships between the peoples and professionals of the two countries.

The AAS mandate is:

  • to provide platforms for Australian Alumni to meet together
  • to further the legitimate and collective interests of its members
  • to promote professional growth and development of its members
  • to promote networking and friendship with members and the business community
  • to provide assistance to students intending to study in Australia and to those newly returned
  • to provide goodwill between Singapore and Australia

AAS works closely with the Australian High Commission, the office of the President of Singapore, Australian Universities, and their respective Alumni Associations and Chapters in order to achieve these objectives.

Leesa was fortunate to be given the opportunity to serve on the AAS Management Committee since August 2016, leading its strategic planning, digital transformation and corporate governance initiatives and the CISA strategic alliance.

Leesa is also leading the launch of Australian Alumni Singapore Women.
