We are all deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Professor Ronel Erwee last Friday. Ronel made a significant contribution to USQ since commencing with USQ in 1998. She held various roles including Head of Department, Head of School, and Director of the Australian Graduate School of Business, MBA Director and Professor of Management. Ronel held memberships of various committees and boards and provided a consistently high level of service, which has been of considerable benefit to the University and the wider academic community.
In particular, Ronel’s commitment to research and the support of postgraduate students stood out as a contribution which will have an ongoing impact in her discipline area in years to come.
Professor Ronel Erwee was also instrumental in the development of the Women’s Network over the years and continued to serve women at USQ in a variety of ways including mentoring in the Aspire program. Her warmth and integrity earned her the respect of many, and I know she will be remembered fondly by many of the Women’s Network members who had the privilege to work alongside her.
Ronel will be fondly remembered by her colleagues and all her students for her warmth, sense of collegiality and constant striving for excellence. We offer our sincere condolences to her family and many friends both within USQ and the Toowoomba community, where she was heavily involved in a number of groups, including Zonta.
In loving memory of a Professor who deeply cared about everyone whose lives she touched.
